MY EXPERIENCE

The Daily Helmsman — Reporter, Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief

August 2014 - December 2017

In my seven consecutive semesters at The Daily Helmsman I took on 3 different roles. As an editor I managed reporters in the newsroom to produce content for our daily newspaper four times a week while simultaneously planning out the designs for the papers themselves. I also published our online content through Town News’ BLOX CMS program and shared the stories through our social media pages on a consistent basis.

Memphis Mirror — Reporter

Spring 2017

In Spring 2017 I reported on the growing stand-up comedy scene in Memphis for MemphisMirror.com.

Studied abroad: Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany

Summer 2016

During the Summer of 2016 I took “Journalism and Public Opinion” through the direction of professor Thomas Hrach while at Johannes Gutenberg University. I also explored cities Berlin, Leipzig and Paris, France while abroad.

The Washington Post — Stringer

Oct. 4, 2017

In connection to a story following the 2017 Las Vegas shooting I drove around the greater Memphis area looking for sources that knew Marilou Danley, the shooter’s wife. I was paid by The Post and added to their talent network.
